“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” ‒ 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NLT)
I recently went to the Museum of the Bible for the first time. After almost four hours, we had only seen two (out of six) floors. There’s so much to see, hear, and experience. You can immerse yourself in a "town" similar to where Jesus lived, watch an interactive story of Genesis, or view many objects and important documents that support the Bible's accounts. They even had small fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls to read—or read the translation in my case! Though I've been a believer for many years, I found myself marveling at these artifacts that support the claims of my faith and show the story of God's people through the ages. And I was humbled. Humbled at the fact that the God of the universe, YHWH, would take the time to listen to any human, much less me.
However, He doesn't just hear us. When we pray and seek His face, He acts, too. He forgives us and restores our land. He answers our prayers.
Noah is the great (times seven) grandson of Adam. There are even more greats between Noah and you or me. But just as God listened to them, He wants to listen to us, too. To humble ourselves and pray. Seek. Ask. Receive. What are you waiting for?
