Day 31: A Prayer for the Unborn

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” ‒ John 10:10 (ESV)

The first unplanned pregnancy recorded in the Bible was Mary's. In the unplanned and unexpected, we see the plans God already had for a mother, father, and baby. Mary placed her uncertainty into the certainty of who God is. Likewise, Joseph trusted God's assurance to take Mary as his wife. Joseph was given the very important role of protecting and providing for Mary and the baby. Our Savior was brought into the world in what seems to be an unplanned circumstance.

Christ came to give us an abundant life filled with His love, purpose, and Spirit. The author and creator of all tells us that He knows each one of us intimately, even before we’re in the womb. He wove our inner parts. We are wonderfully made in His image.

The world we live in has created confusion around the authorship of life. The thief is active today in stealing, killing, and destroying the lives of the unborn. I pray our hearts break for what breaks God's. I pray our worldly blinders are removed so we can see clearly. I pray for courage to fight for the unborn so they too can have the abundant life Christ came to give.
