Day 27: Second Life

“But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared, not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit” ‒ Titus 3:4-5 (NKJV)

My father didn’t understand video games so he never bought one for me or my little brother. When I was old enough to get one with my own money, I wasn’t really interested. Yet, I can’t count the hours I sat in a beanbag chair watching friends play “Halo.” My friends would yell when they ‘respawned’ on the game map. These days, I tell video gamers that I respawned in my late 20s and I’m now working on life #2.

We’re baptized to show we’re born again in new life with Jesus—a respawn, if you will. We don’t forget our mistakes, but we overcome them with Jesus. No matter how long ago you accepted Jesus, has your “second life” helped you complete more quests? How far have you made it? Would you like a cheat code? If you haven’t made the commitment to life #2, think about starting at the respawn level.
