Day 25: Seeing the Unseen

"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." ‒ Corinthians 4:18 (NIV)

I knew where I wanted to live when I retired from teaching, and the Lord blessed me to start the buying process. Even with a vision of my home and constant reassurance from God, I couldn't get my head around actually buying a home since I couldn’t see where the down payment was coming from. You see, Fairfax County teachers don't get a paycheck during the summer so you save throughout the school year to have funds to carry you through June, July, and August. That year, I had funds to cover summer expenses, but I didn't have all the money for my down payment. As the day drew near to meet with the mortgage company, the Lord showed me during a prayer that I had the money I needed. In the fall, I had planned to resume saving for the summer months. That was the answer! By November 30, I had the down payment. The Lord truly provides as long as you’re faithful to continue to call on His name.
