Day 24: Shining His Light

“Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well: the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.” ‒ James 5:13-15 (NIV)

I had a powerful prayer encounter earlier this year when some of the staff members and I attended an International House of Prayer (IHOP) retreat. One of the opportunities offered was prophetic prayer where two people prayed over you and shared God's word for you personally. Before the retreat, I had felt a block in my spiritual life for some time. I couldn't quite put a finger on what was keeping me from moving forward.

That prayer time revealed something God wanted me to face and deal with. And He assured me that He was taking my hand and fighting that battle for me. He brought what lay in the dark to the light so I could see clearly what was harming me. Since having that revelation and continued prayer over me by fellow sisters in Christ, I have felt a tremendous lift. I feel free.

What is God bringing to the light in your life? What may you need to surrender to Him in prayer? Perhaps you’re feeling restless, unsure, or experiencing a block of your own. Ask God to show you. His light and truth always sets us free.
