Day 22: Staying in Contact

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” ‒ Colossians 4:2 (NIV)

Our youngest daughter, Lauren, has mostly lived away from our home since graduating from high school in 2004. She attended college in Florida, moved to New York City for three years after graduation, and then moved back home before getting married and moving to Texas. We made a point of staying in contact with her throughout all these years. We feel the closest when we talk often, even for a short check in. Prayer is the same thing. We’re communicating directly with our Heavenly Father who longs to hear from us. By devoting ourselves to prayer, we establish a closeness and a growth found nowhere else.

Starting today, check in with your Father in Heaven daily, if not more often. Develop the closer relationship He desires and see your spiritual life grow. Also, call your parents.
