
“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.“ ‒ Exodus 3:5 (NIV)
Reading this passage made me reflect on my heart’s attitude during prayer. It wasn’t a pretty picture. Oh, I bowed my head and closed my eyes but without reverence and respect. When we pray to God we’re entering His presence, His holy ground. Recognizing that made me reevaluate not only my physical posture but the posture of my heart. Every time we pray we’re having a Moses moment like in the movie, The 10 Commandments. Well, at least that’s what pops into my head.
