His favorite verse of Scripture is Romans 8:31 - "What then shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?"

Sherri Stricker and her family joined Southview in September 2000.  Growing up in Washington State, Sherri asked Jesus to be her Savior at the age of 9 while attending a backyard bible club.  At age 10 she began formal piano lessons & at age 15 formal voice lessons.   Sherri graduated from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington in May 1984.  She married Mark in June of 1984.  Mark and Sherri have two daughters, Rebecca aged 16 and Bethany aged 15.

With classical training and encouragement from fellow believers, Sherri's love for arranging, composing and teaching has developed thru the years.   Before moving to Virginia, Sherri had the opportunity to serve God and share her love of music globally as an army spouse.  Sherri has served as accompanist or music director at various churches since 1984.   She has been on staff at Southview since January 2001, providing vocal and keyboard support to the worship team.

When asked why she does what she does, her response is, "I cannot imagine my life without music - to me it is truly a gift from God to be able to listen to lyrics set to a melody that plucks at my heart's strings, to be able to share music with others - after all, God gave me abilities to use and I want to use them for His purpose.   To God be the glory!"
