William Attaway's Bio
William Attaway became the third lead pastor of Southview Community Church in 2006. Prior to coming to Southview as the associate pastor in 2004, he served as a staff minister at North Richland Hills Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, as well as churches in Mississippi and Alabama. Pastor William is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. He is a graduate of William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS (B.A. in Religion) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX (M.A. in Theology). His seminary studies focused primarily in the areas of Old Testament and Hebrew studies. William and his wife Charlotte were married in 1997, and they have two daughters: Erin, born in 2004, and Allison, born in 2007.
In previous ministry settings, Pastor William has most enjoyed developing programs for leadership training. He believes and tries to model that a pastor’s job is not to do everything himself, but to “equip the saints for the work of service”. Pastor William’s primary spiritual gifts are teaching and administration. He enjoys reading, traveling, playing golf, and working with computers. He also teaches New Testament Survey for Itawamba Community College’s distance learning program. The Attaways homeschool their daughters, striving to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. His favorite verse of Scripture is Romans 8:31 - “What then shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Michele Cortez's Bio
Welcome. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and I earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of Texas at San Antonio. My primary professional interests are working in the areas of anxiety, self-esteem, life transitions, relationship conflict, bereavement, parenting challenges, and childhood abuse. I have over 15 years of experience in psychotherapy with adolescents, individuals, couples, families and groups. I have worked in a non-profit community agency, private practice, hospital and school settings. I truly enjoy partnering with clients to increase self-awareness, identify and release restrictive patterns, foster empowerment, and encourage positive change.
I believe that change is possible for anyone, and it begins with a safe and accepting environment to explore the barriers to an individual’s desired quality of life. My approach to therapy is warm, direct, non-threatening and empowering, with a focus on working with the client to identify the patterns and obstacles that prevent the client from reaching his or her goals. Confusion, frustration, anxiety and anger may be the result of hidden influences that are hampering the client from being where he or she really wants to be. Many situations can be improved through increasing personal insight and awareness. Using Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and techniques from other therapeutic approaches; my job is to help the client identify real options for his or her unique situation based on established therapeutic goals. Despite theory and education, I believe that true healing comes from understanding our personal worth through the eyes of our Creator. It all comes down to understanding that there is a Creator who loves us so much that he would die for us. I look forward to meeting you and serving you at Southview. If you would like to schedule an appointment or if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 713-614-5406. I can also be reached via email at email@example.com.
