We're located at 2620 Reston Parkway in Herndon, VA (near the Fox Mill Shopping Center at the intersection of McLearen, Lawyers, and Reston Parkway, next to the firehouse) From the Dulles Toll Road (Route 267), take the Reston Parkway exit, heading south. The church is about two miles down Reston Parkway on the right.

We hope you'll find us to be a place where you are warmly welcomed and can feel at home, even if you've never been to church before. Many who gather with us are new to church - that's ok! We're learning together as a community what it means to be a Christ-follower, and we're all on a journey - no one has arrived. You can come just as you are. You can wear jeans or a suit - and you'll probably see someone else in the worship service dressed like you are.

Our Sunday morning schedule begins at 9:30 a.m. with Bible study classes and childcare for all ages, from infants to adults. At 11:00, we have our worship service, and during the service we have Bible study classes and childcare for small children (birth through preschool). Our children's ministry and youth ministry are focused on making sure your kids learn about God in a safe, fun, and loving environment.

Whether you're new to church and exploring what the Christian faith is all about, you're coming at the invitation of a friend, or you're a Christ-follower looking for a place to plug into a local group of believers, you're welcome at Southview.

Southview Baptist Church is a medium-sized church in Northern Virginia, about 30 minutes from Washington, D.C. Our church is a member of the NorthStar Church Network, the Willow Creek Association, and the Southern Baptist Convention. We are a community of members who believe in one true God, the saving work of Jesus for all who trust in Him, the absolute truth of the Bible, and the priesthood of every believer.

We are seeking to build an authentic Christianity within our people, where we can speak the truth in love, and share not only the good times but the tough times as well. We are striving to build a kingdom focus, realizing that our call is to help build the kingdom of God, not just our local church.

We desire to help all people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ, seeking to become more and more like Jesus every day in all that we say and do.

On October 7, 1977, twenty-two members from First Baptist Church of Herndon met to plant a new church in the "South Reston" area to be called Southview Baptist Church. The first services of the new church were held on January 8, 1978 in Hunter's Woods Elementary School with forty-one persons in attendance. The church called James Langham to be its first pastor and he began his ministry in April of 1978.

Enjoying steady growth, Southview was officially chartered on October 7, 1979 with 75 charter members. In August of 1982 the church authorized construction of its first building at its present location, and on June 5, 1988, ground was broken for the new sanctuary. Chuck Price came to Southview in October of 1994 and served as Senior Pastor until April, 2006. In October, 2006, the church voted to call William Attaway as Southview's third Senior Pastor.

Today, in a new millennium, Southview is still strategically located to minister to the growing community surrounding it, sharing God's love and His message of hope with all who would receive it.
