William Attaway, Senior Pastor
William Attaway became the third senior pastor of Southview Baptist Church in 2006. Prior to coming to Southview as the associate pastor in 2004, he served as a staff minister at North Richland Hills Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas, as well as churches in Mississippi and Alabama. Pastor William is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. He is a graduate of William Carey University in Hattiesburg, MS (B.A. in Religion) and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX (M.A. in Theology). His seminary studies focused primarily in the areas of Old Testament and Hebrew studies. William and his wife Charlotte were married in 1997, and they have two daughters: Erin, born in 2004, and Allison, born in 2007.
In previous ministry settings, Pastor William has most enjoyed developing programs for leadership training. He believes and tries to model that a pastor's job is not to do everything himself, but to "equip the saints for the work of service". Pastor William's primary spiritual gifts are teaching and administration. He enjoys reading, traveling, playing golf, and working with computers. He also teaches New Testament Survey for Itawamba Community College’s distance learning program. The Attaways homeschool their daughters, striving to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. His favorite verse of Scripture is Romans 8:31 - "What then shall we say in response to this? If God is for us, who can be against us?"

Rob Petrini, Minister for Youth and Worship
Rob Petrini came on board at Southview (www.southview.org) as Minister for Youth & Worship, April 1, 2007. Born and raised in Australia, Rob first preached at a youth event in Rome, Italy, in 1993. In that year he also led numerous outreach events within Italy. Since then, he has ministered in both the US and Australia in the areas of worship, youth and young adults. In Australia he has worked as a youth & young adult leader at St George Community Church, as an Associate Pastor at Parkside Church and as Associate Pastor at Helensburgh Baptist Church. He also worked in an advisory role assisting Fairfield Council with Youth Affairs, helping initiate and run a program called Links to Learning, a program designed to help kids from dropping out of high school.
In 2006 Rob left Australia, co-leading with John Smulo to form and plant LifeSong Church in Elk Grove, CA. Rob has recently worked as an assistant leader with Remedy (www.eremedy.org), a Young Adult Outreach Ministry sponsored through Youth for Christ (www.yfc.net).
Rob has a real heart for discipling youth and young adults, teaching and leading worship and has a keen interest in apologetics. Rob is a big fan of most competitive sports, but especially Soccer & Ice Hockey. He enjoys reading, adding to his hockey card collection and commercial aviation photography. Rob is married to Monica and they have three girls, Isabella, Alexandra & Jessica.

Steve Kane, Minister of Children and Administration
Steve Kane is our newest staff member, coming on full time staff on March 1, 2009 as our Minister of Children and Administration. He became a member of Southview Baptist Church in 1999. He and his wife, Amy, soon began teaching the 3rd/4th grade Sunday School class. After several years of teaching, he felt a calling to become more involved in the children's ministry at Southview and became the volunteer Elementary Director in September 2005. Steve has a passion for developing true discipleship in the lives of children, built on a solid foundation in Christ. He tries to instill the following truth from 1 Timothy 4:12 in the childrens ministry - "Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity."
Both graduates of Virginia Tech, he and Amy have been married since September 1998. His hobbies include playing sports, reading, video games, and collecting sports memorabilia.

Don Collins, Assistant to the Pastor
Don Collins is a volunteer staff member at Southview Baptist, serving as the Assistant to the Pastor. He took on that role after retiring from USA TODAY newspaper in January 2007. He was a founder of the newspaper, joining USA TODAY in July 1982, two months before it started.
Don grew up in Kentucky. He is a graduate of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky. (B.A. in Journalism). He also worked at newspapers in Bowling Green, Ky.; Henderson, Ky.; Jackson, Miss., and Little Rock, Ark. Don and his wife Cheryl, an Arkansas native, were married on Oct. 19, 1991. They joined Southview in May 1992.
Don enjoys working with young people, reading, movies and sports. His favorite Scripture is Romans 8:28 - "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose."

Leah Carr, Ministry Assistant
Leah grew up in Sterling, Virginia, and went to her church school at Calvary Temple from kindergarten to twelfth grade. She began working at Southview in 2006 when she graduated from high school. Her duties include all communications at Southview, including updating the website and publishing both the weekly bulletin and monthly newsletter. She thanks God for the privilege of enjoying three tremendous mission trips to Kenya, and is returning in summer 2010. Leah has enjoyed music, especially singing, ever since she was little. She sings in her church worship team and at it's many outreaches. She passes along her love for music through teaching private piano and voice lessons. She strives to be transformed daily, as exhorted by Paul in Romans 12:1-2.

Lynn Carr, Ministry Assistant
Lynn began working at Southview in 1999. As Ministry Assistant, Lynn handles the accounting, database, calendaring, and other administrative duties. She graduated from Mary Washington College in 1982. She and Randy married in 1983 and have been blessed with three children. Lynn has been an active member of Calvary Temple in Sterling, Virginia, since 1980. She enjoys reading Christian biographies, Southern Gospel music, proofreading for her churchs transcript ministry, and working there in the childrens ministry. Her favorite Bible verse is Psalm 139, verse 5: "Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me." She is grateful for knowing the saving grace of Jesus since 1978.

Lydia Young, Preschool Ministry Director
Lydia Young began attending Southview in 2002 and soon became active in the children's ministries as a substitute teacher, activity assistant, and taught during the Neighborhood Bible Clubs. Lydia began serving as volunteer Preschool Ministry Director after joining Southview in September 2006 with her family. Lydia was married to Glen in March 1990 and they have two sons - Tyler Russell (born in 1995) and Cameron Allan (born in 1998).
Her father is a retired Lutheran pastor and her extended family has a long history of service in the church and community; values which she has seen modeled since early childhood, and which she embraces with her whole heart. Lydia was born in Michigan but has always lived in Northern Virginia. She graduated from George Mason University in Fairfax, VA with a degree in Accounting and went on to attain her Certified Public Accountant designation shortly thereafter. Lydia works part-time as a financial analyst and compliance auditor. She considers her spiritual gifts to be patience and organizational skills, and her favorite hobby is sewing. Her favorite Bible verse is Matthew 7:8 "For everyone who asks receives, he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."
